    Cooked mate is a typical infusion of Guaraní gastronomy.

    Cooked mate is traditionally obtained by decoctioning yerba mate in hot water. The result is a transparent green aromatic liquid with a mild bitter flavor. Depending on the concentration of yerba mate dissolved in the water, the color can vary from more or less dark. It is usually served hot or cold in a cup and can be sweetened with sugar and milk.
